Telephone Consultations

Telephone appointments are widely used by all our healthcare professionals and have shown a huge number of benefits for patients. There is no need for time off work, travel to the surgery, childcare or any other restriction that may hinder your ability to visit the surgery, meaning you can access healthcare quickly and efficiently.

However, during early 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic closed down the majority of face to face interactions across primary care they became a necessary part of routine care.

As with any request for an appointment, a request for a telephone appointment should go primarily throught the Online Consultations model. This will then be triaged and given to the most appropriate health professional. Not only may a GP give you a call but a Nurse, Healthcare Assistant, Pharmacist or other healthcare professional that is the most appropriate to deal with your problem.

Telephone appointments can be a really beneficial way to interact with the surgery. Aside from a physical examination, you can discuss all the same things as you would in a face to face appointment, however;

  • No need to take time out to get to the surgery and wait for an appointment
  • No waiting for car park spaces
  • No need for childcare
  • Reduce travel costs both money and the costs on the economy
