Health care assistants they are trained and assessed by our Nurse Practitioner to assist with the following services;
The Healthcare Assistant holds INR clinics on Monday and Tuesday between 12pm and 2pm and Wednesday and Thursday 12pm to 1pm. Patients requiring this service should telephone to make an appointment.
We offer a 'finger prick' service for this which entails a small drop of blood being taken from the patients thumb, this is then tested via a machine which calculates the INR range (this is a measure of how quickly the blood coagulates), gives a suggested medication dose which will be checked by a GP and the date the patient needs to return for a retest.
The Health care assistant is available each morning 8:30- 11am. you need to see the Doctor before blood tests are taken and all blood tests are carried out in the morning as the hospital collects our samples at a specific time.
Please contact reception if you require further information.
